The problem

Most weather apps show a model's estimate. The real measurements, the calibrated airport sensors pilots trust before takeoff, are public but written in code that locks out anyone who isn't a pilot.

What I did

Translated the jargon

Raw station transmissions decoded into a plain field report, with aviation color codes rendered simply: green when it's clear, red when it's rough.

Built real instruments

A scrubbable NOAA radar timeline, a live wind compass that tracks as you turn, three-hour pressure trends, and special-report alerts when a station transmits an unscheduled update.

Made it tap-to-learn

Every screen ends with the raw station code, and each piece is tappable, so a curious user learns to read weather like a pilot over a couple of weeks.

Designed it to earn trust

Every reading shows which station it came from, how far away it is, and how fresh it is. Built privacy-first: no accounts, no tracking, location stays on the device.

From the data layer to the interface, this is a full product, not a mockup. It's live on the App Store, free, with no accounts, no ads, and no tracking.

The result

A weather app that makes aviation-grade data readable for anyone, designed and built end to end, and shipped to the App Store. Proof that app work here means a real product in people's hands, not a concept screen.

Shipped and still moving

Version 1.0.2 added a Daily Brief in plain English, severe weather alerts and a morning brief generated entirely on the device, 26 offline weather guides, and The Receipt, which grades yesterday's forecast against what the station actually measured. Still free, still no accounts, no tracking, no ads.
