Fat Tail — the app
A shipped weather app that turns aviation-grade airport sensor data into plain-language field reports — designed and built, not mocked up.

The problem
Serious weather data is accurate but unreadable to normal people. Airport sensors and aviation reports carry the truth, but the language locks out anyone who isn't a pilot.
What I did
Translated the jargon
Aviation condition codes rendered as a plain 'field report' with green-when-clear, red-when-rough — the meaning, not the acronym.
Surfaced when the station just spoke
Unscheduled airport reports flagged in real time, so a sudden change reads as a live event instead of a buried data point.
Built real instruments
A scrubbable NOAA radar timeline and a compass wind arrow that tracks as you turn — interactions, not static widgets.
Shipped it
This isn't a concept screen. Fat Tail is a live product built end to end, which is the whole point of showing it in the portfolio.
The result
A weather app real people can read — and proof that app development here means a shipped product, not a design mockup.
